Percy Richardson - PictureThe man in the corner, more specifically, the cut man, has long been one of boxing’s unsung heroes. Names that come to mind include: Ace Marotta, Ralph Citro, Eddie Aliana, and, of course, our honoree, Percy Richardson. Percy, a resident of Trenton, NJ, has devoted almost 50 years to the sport of boxing.

Percy received his seconds license in 1946. From 1977 through 1981 he served as an inspector for the NJ State Athletic Commission. He was hired by Butch Lewis to work as Chief Cut Man for Michael Spinks. The list of fighters that Percy has worked with reads like a Hall of Fame. Larry Holmes, Don Curry, Ray Mercer, Juan Laporte, Virgil Hill, Charles Murray, Iran Barkley, Sammy Goss, Archie McBride, Nigel Benn, Al Cole and Mike McCallum are some of the fighters that were fortunate to avail themselves of the talents of Percy Richardson. Percy is knowledgeable, dedicated, and a credit to boxing.
