Al was a welterweight out of Newark who fought from 1944 to 1952.
During his professional career of 94 bouts he fought some of the top lightweights, welterweights and middleweights in the world. He beat such standouts as Bobby Mann, George Benton and former world title holder Fritzie Zivic.
He lost a close decision to former world title holder Ike Williams and was stopped by the great Sugar Ray Robinson.
