Mickey Greb Ferrari began fighting as an amateur in 1926 in a little town outside of Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne, Pennsylvania. As an amateur Mickey won the Junior lightweight title in 1927. He had 80 amateur fights and he won them all. Mickey began his pro career in 1929 in Mahoney City, where he fought and beat, at that time, undefeated Billy Coleman. At 118 pounds he battted Ace Gallagher one of Hazelton and Mahoney City’s leading lightweights. Mickey also defeated Charley Russo, one of Wilkes-Barre- Scranton areas leading lightweights. Also beaten by Mickey were Jimmy Thompson and Ace Saleet. There was also two very sensational battles with Charley Russo.
