Professional Career

On February 12, 2000 With a 21-0-0 record Judah defeated Jan Piet Bergman by 4th round KO for the vacate IBF light-welterweight title which Terron Millett had been stripped. On June 24, 2000 Judah’s next title defence was british fighter Junior Witter with a record 15-0-2, Judah won an unanimous decision with scores of 116-112 and 118-111 twice. Judah had successfuly defended his IBF light-welterweight title over Hector Quiroz, Terron Millett, Reggie Green,and Allan Vester. On Nov 3, 2001, Judah had his first unifycation bout with the WBC, WBA light-welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu, Judah had won the first round by using his speed to hit Tszyu with uppercuts that hurt Tyzyu, second round Tszyu was doing well and landed a right hand near the end of the round, Judah was dazed and tried to get up but he went back down, Referee Jay Nady stop the bout. On July 12, 2003, Judah fought DeMarcus Corley for Corley’s WBO light-welterweight title, Judah won via split decision scores were 115-112, 115-113 Judah and 115-113 for Corley. On April 10, 2004, Judah move up in weight to face undisputed welterweight champion Cory Spinks, Both men were knock down and Judah lost a close unanimous decision, scores were 114-112 twice and 116-111 for Spinks.

On February 05, 2005, Judah became the undisputed welterweight champion with his rematch with Cory Spinks, Judah connected with several of his big left hooks and KO Spinks in the ninth round in Spinks’s hometown of St.Louis, Missouri. He would lose those titles, in his own hometown, on January 7, 2006, when he suffered a unanimous decision upset loss to WBC mandatory challenger, Carlos Manuel Baldomir. Baldomir only won the WBC title, as he only paid the sanctioning fee for that organization’s title. It was widely believed that Judah’s WBA and IBF titles were automatically vacated as a result of the loss, as has been the custom in similar situations, like Lloyd Honeyghan’s loss to Jorge Vaca. However, on January 19, IBF championship chairman Lindsey Tucker told FightNews that Judah was still the organization’s champion, as they like the WBA did not recognize the bout as a title match, however they did not choose to vacate the title as the WBA had done.

The loss also would have appeared to have cost Judah the opportunity to face widely recognized pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a big pay-per-view showdown later in the spring of 2006. However, on January 20th, Bob Arum and Don King announced that the two would meet on April 8, 2006 in a HBO Pay-Per-View show, with Judah’s IBF welterweight title on the line. Though Judah would start well in his match with Mayweather, Mayweather would take control of the fight in the 2nd half to win a comfortable unanimous decision with scores of 119-109, 116-112, 117-111. The bout was highlighted by a controversial 10th round incident, in which Judah landed a low blow on Mayweather, followed by a rabbit punch. This prompted Mayweather’s trainer Roger Mayweather to enter the ring to go after Judah. Controversy over Roger Mayweather’s actions prompted the IBF on April 18th, to order an immediate rematch betweeen Mayweather and Judah by August 8th. Mayweather, however, decided to abandon his title. On April 13, 2007, Judah had a tune up fight against Ruben Galvan. Judah hammered his opponent with a flurry of punches in the first minute the round while Galvan end up with a deep cut,the reply showed that it was an accidental elbow that made the cut and the fight was declared a no contest. On June 9, 2007, Judah face WBA welterweight champion Miguel Angel Cotto 30-0-0 record, the fight was action packed with Judah rocking Cotto in the first round with uppercuts, however in the 11th round Cotto knock down Judah,Judah got up,but was meet by a barrage of punches by Cotto which prompted the referee to stop the fight.all three judges had Cotto winning the fight 97-91.
