Inducted on November 12, 1993
A native of Trenton, New Jersey Larry; Lane turned pro In 1936. He fought on until ,1946, facing the top light heavyweights and heavyweights in the country. The record books show he had 83 bouts, but with the incomplete methods used to update fighting records in the 1930’s & 1940’s, it can safely be assumed that he boxed well over 100 times.
Among his noted victories were over Babe Risko, Frankie Zamoris, Joe Muscato, Wally Cross, Lem Franklin, Gunnar Barlund & Vern Escoe. He faced boxing greats Gus Lesnevich, Joey Maxim, Curtis Sheppard, Lee Oma, Ken Overlin, Harry Bobo, Joe Baksi, and Elmer Ray.
New Jersey can be mighty proud to have a fighter of his stature inducted into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame. He fought them all, won more than his share, and always put on a top performance.
We congratulate him on his honor tonight.
