In honor of my father Referee Hymie Kugel, I wish to thank Ring 25 for nominating him and I gratefully thank the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame for Inducting him into The New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame.
He was a great referee and a great man. He helped many fighters along the road in one way or another. In the 1930’s he was voted in a poll by the Newark Evening News, as the “most popular referee in New Jersey.”
Hymie Kugel respected the trainers, managers, matchmakers and all the others, and they all respected him.
I want to congratulate all the Honorees and I wish them well !
