Adolph was born on September 5th, 1911, in West New York, N.]., but moved with his parents to Portland, Maine, when he was quite young.

He started amateur boxing and won his first contest in September, 1923 in Portland.

After a very successful amateur career he started pro boxing and defeated Jackie Cooper in Portland Arena, in May, 1926, in his first go. His last bout was vs. Ray Chapman on March 4, 1937, which he won.

Among the many opponents Ad faced were Al Bolduce, K.O. Stevens, Mike Perry, Johnny Nelson, Young Dumont, Young Roche, “Kid” Sullivan, Patsy. Reno, Bobby Brown, Vince Forgione, “Irish Tommy” Jordan, Tony Celli, Willie Feldman, Jackie Aldare, “Cowboy Jack” Willis, Mickey Bishop, Leo Salvas and in 1932 he lost a 10 round decision to Lou Brouillard who also defeated Johnny Indrisano and Jimmy Mdarin that same year.

In about 97 engagements Ad won 86, lost 7 and had 4 draws, a very impressive record.

During 1942 to 1944 he was in the Army Medical Corps and has been a practicing physician and surgeon since 1950 in Phoenix, Ariz.

He is married to the former Jean Marie Hoover and they are the parents of three children.
